The Dow Chemical Company Announces Its Sponsorship for the Special Olympics World Summer Games ATHENS 2011


Athens, 3 March 2023 — The Dow Chemical Company was announced today as the Official Chemistry Company for the upcoming Special Olympics World Summer Games ATHENS 2011, adding to the company’s already robust sponsorship portfolio.



In addition to its sponsorship of the Special Olympics World Summer Games, Dow became one of the eleven Worldwide Partners of the Olympic Games, in July 2010.



“Our support to the upcoming Special Olympics perfectly aligns with Dow’s core values of integrity and respect for people,” said Mr. Thanos Thomas, General Manager Greece/CEE, Dow. “The Special Olympics World Summer Games is the most important sporting and humanitarian event of 2011. Ms Joanna Despotopoulou, President of the Organizing Committee of Special Olympics World Summer Games ATHENS 2011 said: «It is an honor to welcome The Dow Chemical Company to the family of Special Olympics and have its precious support. The Opening Ceremony of the Special Olympics World Games ATHENS 2011 will take place on June 25 and over the course of two weeks, more than 7.000 Special Olympics athletes from approximately 180 countries will be competing in 22 different Olympic-type sporting events in 30 venues, accompanied by 2.500 coaches, 40.000 family members and friends, 3.000 media representatives and supported by 25.000 volunteers.
