Twenty-two medals in total ended up in Greek hands during S.O. Athens 2011. Greek cycling coaches Apostolis Tsarkatoglou, Konstantina Bourlouka, Varvara Liandraki, Ioanna Zira, Vasilis Grigoriou and Athanasia Iatrou, Greek S.O. athletes and Helleniko softball venue audience were there July 3 to cheer for Kontantinos Nickolis, the cyclist who won gold in 40K and brought in Greece’s 22th medal. Konstantinos’ proud parents had every reason to hug him at the finish line. Also supporting the Greek cyclist was his tireless grandmother, who has been constantly by his side since his first race at the Games and who was beaming with pleasure at her grandson’s accomplishment.
